New Year Goals

We begin each New Year with hopes for trying new things, quitting bad habits, and setting ourselves up with great expectations. Now let us apply our New Year optimism to artwork. Have you thought about your perspective on art for this New Year? Perhaps setting a goal to visit more museums or to work on more of your own artwork, and hopefully support living artists by adding new artwork to your living and working spaces. How will 2012 be different in your relation to art? For myself, I am transitioning from working at a gallery to working at a nonprofit museum. My perspective on profit and relation to art is completely different for this New Year. I’m not sure what will come of the changes but I am hopeful for the new perspective to lead to more inspiration and new ways of looking at artwork. Also, I want my view of art to evolve, never to be stagnant. A museum’s permanent collection I visited last year I will visit again this year; I want to see how the art has changed. By challenging myself with a new perspective I am mindful of the active role art will play for me in 2012. How will art be a part of your New Year?
